It's better to be an honest rational human being than claiming a label; atheism will come naturally. Meaning, atheism comes naturally over time after you start thinking rationally.
With that being said, being an Atheist doesn't automatically make a person rational.
Being rational opens a person's eyes to the beauty of the universe.
I don't think true rationality is something that happens naturally. Brains are easily deceived. Critical thinking is needed to be rational.
A person has to dedicate a lot of time & energy to find out what is real and how things actually work in real-life.
A person doesn't need to know everything to be an Atheist. Meaning a person doesn't have to know everything to disbelieve in a god or gods. Atheists just go one god further.
It's hard for a lot of people to take that one step further, so they stay an agnostic theist instead of atheist.
For me, Theism is only rational for the people that have mental problems, like they think they would want to do bad things if they don't have a god (in their mind) to punish them.
It is hard to be an honest rational human being for most people. It takes a lot of brain power.
What I mean by 'mental problems' is not critically thinking about how certain ideas work in real-life and have no good evidence. So, a person can do science, but it wouldn't include the things that have no good evidence for.
"For me, Theism is only rational for the people that have mental problems" haha hectic haha Most scientists are all theistic and almost all of the greatest scientists of the past were theists. Most Nobel prize winners are also all theistic. Even you were a theist one time in your life. So do all of those people including you have mental problems? "It is hard to be an honest rational human being for most people." You claim you are a honest rational human being then tell me how many times you have lied in your life? and how many times has your rational brain been wrong in the past? "like they think they would want to do bad things if they don't have a god (in their mind) to punish them." There are no "bad" or evil things if there is no God. If there was no God then Richard Dawkins would be right when he says: "The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.“ But because there is a God there is real design, real purpose, real evil and real good.
Atheism ≠ Rationalism
